We offer a wide range of veterinary services to keep your companions feeling their best:
Diagnostic and Therapeutic Services: Our hospital is equipped to provide diagnostic and therapeutic services to care for your pets' complete health care needs.
Surgical Services: Our state-of-the-art surgical suites provide for the performance of a wide variety of surgical procedures - including soft tissue and orthopedic procedures.
Anesthesia: We utilize the safest anesthetics available to provide an extra margin of safety, especially for our older or high-risk patients. Using the most modern equipment, the patient's vital signs are monitored during all anesthetic procedures. Most anesthetic procedures are performed using anesthesia ventilators that ensure the patient is breathing properly.
Radiology Services: Our on-site, digital X-ray equipment provides high quality radiographs visible to our doctors within 10 seconds of the time they are exposed. In complex cases, these digital radiographs can be sent directly via the internet to experts all over the world. Further, your family veterinarian can see these radiographs on the internet or on a CD that we can print for them.
Endoscopy: With our newly purchased state-of-the-art endoscopy tower, we can perform a variety of procedures. We have used it numerous times to retrieve foreign bodies from canine stomachs like jewelry and fish hooks. The biopsy forceps allows us to obtain biopsies from certain organ systems with the bare minimum of invasion. Our bronchoscope can be used to view into pet's tracheas and other respiratory systems without the use of other invasive procedures. All the while we do these procedures we can take photographs to keep as records. These photos can then be viewed by other specialists or your veterinarian to make educated decisions regarding your pet's care and treatment.
Echocardiography and Ultrasound Services: Doctors at Central California Veterinary Specialty Center have access to a digital ultrasound machine with which an examination of the heart, liver or other part of the body can be visualized. Because it is digitial, the images and information can be reviewed long after your pet is no longer in the hospital. The data can be transferred over the internet in a matter of seconds for analysis by experts anywhere in the world.
Oncology (Cancer) Services: The staff is well trained in the diagnosis and treatment of many cancers that affect our beloved pets. We have the ability to perform treatment with most chemotherapeutic agents. Radiation therapy is not yet available, but we are able to direct you to one of our colleagues who have this modality, whether you wish to travel north or south.
Critical Care Services: At the Central California Veterinary Specialty Center, we have the newest and best equipment to provide state-of-the-art critical care. Our Pulmonetics LTV ventilator is equipped with the LTM graphics monitor. This monitor provides pressure, flow and volume waveforms, as well as graphic flow/volume and volume/pressure loops that help visualize patient response. One glance allows the operator to see trends in breathing, spontaneous breath rates, exhaled volume and minute volume, PIP, MAP, PEEP, static compliance and AutoPeep.
Electrocardiography Services: We provide ECG services on-site as well as consultations with cardiology specialists.
Nutrition Services: Emergency and critical care patients need nutrition, yet are often compromised and unwilling or unable to eat. Central California Veterinary Specialty Center has the expertise and the equipment (such as the Dobbhof naso-jejunal catheter) to provide nutrition very early after the onset of a crisis. Patients who are "fed" sooner, recover sooner.
Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy: We have one of the only high-pressure hyperbaric chambers on the West Coast. Hyperbaric oxygen therapy is utilized in many surgical and disease processes to speed healing and reduce pain and discomfort.
Laboratory: Our in-house laboratory facilities provide for serum chemistry, hematology, serology, urinalysis and parasite testing. We also utilize commercial veterinary laboratories for specialized diagnostics and consultations.
Pharmacy: We maintain a vast array of pharmaceuticals used in our patients. Some of these medications have to be administered a drop and a time over many hours. For that purpose, we have the latest and best fluid pumps on the market today. The Heska fluid pumps will accurately deliver as little volume as <1 ml/hr to as high a volume as high as 999 ml/hr.
Emergency Care: Our emergency staff includes doctors, nurses, technicians and assistants - many of whom have more than 10 years experience in the field.
